About 50% of my cases are EGDs/Colonoscopies. Otherwise I do bread & butter surgery with appy, chole, hernia, skin cancer, ports, colon resections, etc. I also do some thoracic for empyema or PTX as needed. I average 15-20 cases a week depending on if I'm on call or not. Some weeks I work insane hours.The two are very different. Anesthesia is a super diverse field and as others have said, you can do everything from OR stuff to regional anesthesia to pain. Just knowing there are malignant programs is something you'll have to deal with. You kinda have to decide if it's worth it to have the career.
