A little bit of offensive magic (soul arrow, etc.) also works wonders in worlds 1 + 2, even with low MAG. You may also want to consider 18 INT for three spells slots so you can use cursed weapon (see below). Honestly OP magic builds are only magic builds. You don't need armor or even a weapon after you get the kris blade and clever rats ring.
